w%20it%20goes.%3C%2FP%3E%0A%0A%3CP%3E%26nbsp%3B%3C%2FP%3E%0A%0A%3CP%3EThanks!%3C%2FP%3E%0A%0A%3CP%3EEj%3C%2FP%3E%0A%0A%3CP%3E%26nbsp%3B%3C%2FP%3E%0A%0A%3CP%3E%26nbsp%3B%3C%2FP%3E%3C%2FLINGO-BODY%3E%3CLINGO-SUB%20id%3D%22lingo-sub-291390%22%20slang%3D%22en-US%22%3ERe%3A%20Gopro%20hero%207%20black%20and%20smart%20remote%20and%20app%20issue%3C%2FLINGO-SUB%3E%3CLINGO-BODY%20id%3D%22lingo-body-291390%22%20slang%3D%22en-US%22%3E%3CP%3EI%20have%20the%20same%20issue%20as%20does%20everyone%20of%20my%20friends%20that%20is%20running%20GoPro%20Hero%20Black%207.%20%26nbsp%3B%20The%20problem%20is%20more%20frustrating%20when%20running%20multiple%20cameras.%26nbsp%3B%20I've%20updated%20and%20tried%20every%20process%20to%20get%20reliable%20remote%20control%20of%20my%204%20cameras%20that%20are%20mounted%20on%20my%20airplane.%20%26nbsp%3B%3C%2FP%3E%3CP%3E1)%20You%20can't%20wake%20the%20cameras%20from%20%22off%22%20with%20WiFi%20%22On%22%20using%20the%20remote%20as%20you%20could%20with%20my%20pile%20of%203%2B%20Blacks.%26nbsp%3B%20If%20you%20turn%20off%20the%20cameras%20using%20the%20remote%2C%20you're%20done...%20they%20can't%20be%20turned%20back%20on%20even%20though%20the%20WiFi%20is%20running.%3C%2FP%3E%3CP%3E2)%26nbsp%3B%20The%20cameras%20randomly%20disconnect%20and%20reconnect%20to%20the%20remote%20with%20no%20rhyme%20or%20reason.%26nbsp%3B%20I%20can%20have%20have%20a%20stable%20connection%20on%20my%204%20cameras%20then%20for%20no%20apparent%20reason%20the%20remote%20will%20say%20%223%20cameras%22%20or%202%20%22cameras%22.%3C%2FP%3E%3CP%3E%26nbsp%3B%3C%2FP%3E%3CP%3EIt's%20agrivating%20that%20GoPro%20is%20aware%20of%20this%20issue%20(and%20others%20like%20the%20time%20stamp%20problem)%20but%20won't%20acknowledge%20it%20in%20public%20and%20simply%20say%20%22We're%20working%20on%20it%22.%3C%2FP%3E%3C%2FLINGO-BODY%3E%3CLINGO-SUB%20id%3D%22lingo-sub-308040%22%20slang%3D%22en-US%22%3ERe%3A%20Gopro%20hero%207%20black%20and%20smart%20remote%20and%20app%20issue%3C%2FLINGO-SUB%3E%3CLINGO-BODY%20id%3D%22lingo-body-308040%22%20slang%3D%22en-US%22%3E%3CP%3EI've%20been%20working%20diligently%20with%20GoPro%20to%20solve%20the%20connectivity%20problem%20with%20the%20GoPro%20Hero%207%20Black%2FGoPro%20App%2FSmart%20Remote.%26nbsp%3B%20This%20problem%20seems%20to%20be%20more%20acute%20when%20trying%20to%20run%20multiple%20cameras.%26nbsp%3B%20As%20I%20have%20to%20%22go%20by%20the%20numbers%22%20to%20keep%20the%20ticket%20moving%2C%20I'm%20doing%20what%20they%20ask%20so%20have%20to%20make%20yet%20another%20video%20showing%20the%20problem%20but%20this%20time%20they%20want%20the%20Smart%20Remote%20%22On%22.%26nbsp%3B%20This%20seems%20like%20it%20will%20be%20a%20waste%20of%20time%20as%20those%20of%20us%20who've%20used%20previous%20generations%20of%20cameras%20with%20remotes%20know%20that%20once%20you've%20paired%20the%20camera%20with%20the%20remote%20and%20select%20%22Wi-Fi%20RC%22%20%26gt%3B%20%22CURRENT%22%20you%20can%20then%20turn%20on%20the%20remote%20which%20turns%20on%20the%20cameras%20and%20they%20connect%20to%20the%20remote%20with%20a%20stable%20connection.%3C%2FP%3E%3CP%3E%26nbsp%3B%3C%2FP%3E%3CP%3EHere's%20what%20I%20think%20I%20know%3A%26nbsp%3B%20The%20GoPros%20use%20low%20power%20Bluetooth%20to%20%22wake%22%20the%20camera.%26nbsp%3B%20Once%20the%20camera%20is%20%22awake%22%20or%20%22on%22%2C%20it%20should%20connect%20to%20the%20GoPro%20Smart%20Remote%20using%20Wi-Fi.%20%26nbsp%3B%3C%2FP%3E%3CP%3E%26nbsp%3B%3C%2FP%3E%3CP%3EGoPro%20either%20chose%20not%20to%20or%20neglected%20to%20include%20the%20utility%20in%20the%20menu%20structure%20of%20the%20camera%20that%20allows%20you%20to%20select%20which%20signal%20the%20camera%20is%20exclusively%20%22seeing%22.%26nbsp%3B%20When%20using%20the%20GoPro%20App%20with%20the%20camera%20connected%2C%20scroll%20down%20in%20settings%20to%20%22Use%20Current%20Wi-Fi%20Remote%22%20and%20select%20this%20function%2C%20It%20will%20warn%20you%20that%20proceeding%20will%20disconnect%20the%20camera%20from%20the%20App.%26nbsp%3B%20The%20problem%20is%2C%20other%20than%20on%20one%20occassion%2C%20the%20camera%20I've%20chosen%20to%20control%20from%20the%20app%20won't%20disconnect%20from%20the%20wi-fi%20of%20the%20mobile%20app.%26nbsp%3B%20When%2Fif%20they%20do%20connect%20to%20the%20remote%2C%20it%20appears%20the%20camera%20is%20still%20scanning%20for%20familiar%20signals%20and%20will%20randomly%20disconnect%20from%20the%20remote%20and%20make%20itself%20available%20to%20the%20wi-fi%20on%20the%20phone.%3C%2FP%3E%3CP%3E%26nbsp%3B%3C%2FP%3E%3CP%3EWith%20GoPro%2C%20it%20seems%20%22the%20squeeky%20wheel%20gets%20the%20grease%22%20so%20if%20you're%20experiencing%20connectivity%20problems%20with%207%20series%20cameras%20and%20Smart%20Remote%20and%20using%20them%20via%20remote%20is%20critical%20to%20the%20way%20you%20use%20your%20cameras%2C%20see%20if%20yours%20behaves%20like%20mine.%26nbsp%3B%20If%20it%20does%2C%20please%20let%20them%20know%20so%20they%20can%20develop%20a%20%22fix%22.%20%26nbsp%3B%20I've%20included%20t Gopro hero 7 black and smart remote and app issue

Hi i been using my gopro hero 7 black since release day. So first yes the gopro has been updated manually twice i have a macbook pro and been updating firmware on my gopros manually i never update them via app. Now for my issue. So i have an lg v20 (android) when i connect the gopro to the app it works good but after a few minutes the app says the gopro was disconnected or lost connection so i close and the reopen the app and connects again but happens often.....app issue or gopro? Well then i have a smart remote i bought 6 months ago that was using with my hero 5 black never had issues. Now that i have the gopro 7 black i connect the gopro works all good for hour or so then looses connection and all the smart remote does is search and search with out connecting. And sometimes not all the time the smart remote freezes. But my issue is the app and smart remote keep loosing connection with the gopro. I tried resetting wifi connections reconnect ect. And already updated the firmware twice on the gopro manually. Yes app in the latest too. Any help will be appriciated.... Thank you

Make sure your phone settings are not set to allow for wi-fi calling. If this feature is enabled, the phone will disconnect from the camera wi-fi since internet is not available through the camera.

Thank you for your replies. I dont have wifi calling enabled at all. I know the issue can be resolved maybe on the app but the smart remote is where im more concerned since i cannot installed a new smart remote firmware or update. Thank you all again.

I have the exact same problem with an LG V20. I get 10-15 minutes at most before it disconnects.

on Android (Samsung S8) I have had the same issue.

 

If I rememeber exactly, Android is not capable to manage GoPro WiFi in the same time with an mobile data Internet access

maybe sometimes phone "remembers" that have to do something on internet, and this is why drops the gopro wifi and connects to main WiFi or to the mobile data.

if I recall correctly, with disabled mobile acces data, I had some more success....try it.  

 

on IOS - I have now a continous connection of 43min 37sec

I do not have such issues. iPhone and camera connect every time, stable, even I put the GoPro app in the background, see the video below.

iPhone can manage gopro wifi connection + mobile data (as drops when connecting to GoPro the existing main WiFi) in the same time.

with GoPro connected, I can see the 4G icon, I can enter and surf net.

as per remote, I cannot comment here.

is the remote also on 5GHz?

if on 2.4GHz, I might suspect interference with other WiFi.

how about in the woods, where not other WiFi present?

I have the exact same problem with my 7 Black. I have a iPhone X. Lost connection all the time on both remote and app and the phone is asking for password and when I enter it ”wrong password” comes up....
All uppdates made. Camera 2 days old!
Come on GoPro, this is not what I want!

The Smart Remote does not ask for a password.

Try resetting the camera's Wi-Fi settings then pair the camera to the app and the remote again.
