I got my Gopro hero 5 last wednesday for the long weekend here. We used it while swimming that friday and found out that water went into the front screen of the Gopro and it was full of water even though ALL seals and hatches were shut tight. it was still working and we thought that it was normal. We let it dry overnight and noticed that the water lessened and its still working so we really thought it was a normal scenario. We went to the beach and used it again and noticed that the front lcd was full of water again even though we shut all openings correctly. after going home, we were still able to view our videos and transfer photos to our phone. But awhile later, the touchscreen had visible lateral lines then it shutdown on us. Is this covered by Warranty or something? We havent fully enjoyed the go pro as we only used it for 3-4 days.

That looks like a condensation issue to me.
Step 1: Open up your lens cover. There are many YouTube tutorials on how to do this. That will let your lens dry out.
Step 2: The LCD is NOT openable. Don't try to peel it up or anything. Your best bet is to leave it as is, preferably in a bag of rice.
Step 3: See an authorized GoPro dealer. They will fix/replace your camera. In this case, they must replace it as the leak is a manufacturing defect.
I'm sorry that this is happening to you. GoPro's quality control isn't that great these days, and this leak is happening to many people. Keep exchanging cameras until you get one that functions perfectly.
Hope this helps!

i tried contating the dealer and told us to engage go pro support to get a ticket number and have been waiting for the support chat for like an hour already.
seems like they wont be able to replace it without the ticket number.
i tried opening the go pro today and it seems that the camera is working fine and im able to connect to my phone using capture app.But the lcd is still not working and isnt displaying anything.

I experienced the exact same issue yesterday. Bought the gopro for my holiday in Bali. After two minutes in the water (on the surface) water leaked into the front LCD and it stopped working (the gopro itself works fine though). I called Gopro support and they told me that water damage is excluded from warranty. I did have an opportunity to send them an e-mail + pictures and they will see if anything can be done about it.
It must clearly be a production faillure since I read about numerous cases where this has happened. I truly hope they can help you/me/us out as this is not what I had expected from the Gopro 5.
I'll keep you posted!

Exact same thing happened to me as shown in this picture. Purchased it in March. Went to Hawaii in April. Took it to the beach, shallow water just 2-3 feet off shore with young kids. Even had it in a waterproof case to make sure nothing goes wrong. Had the anti-fog insert in the waterproof case also. Didn't realized it happened until late in the day but saw the lens and lcd area were fogged up. Put it up for the day. tried using it the next day and same thing, noticed it fogging up within 30 minutes of use (while in waterproof case). I paid extra (4 times as much) for gopro over cheaper competitors so I wouldnt have to worry about these issues. I have not used it since then. I spoke with a friend of mine about it after I got back who is a GoPro guru and he told me this is a common occurrence with hero 5 and suggested i return it and get hero 4 . i am out of return period so i need GoPro to do something. I've emailed them twice since then but have yet to hear back. I did purchase a squaretrade warranty that will cover it, but should not have to rely on that for this issue. nor should i have to claim on that warranty only a 2 months since owning this device.
