I have purchased a gopro hero black 5 in dec 2016, so just run out of his warranty. We use this gopro like 4 times a year during holidays. My initial black 5 gave an error in the first two months and was replaced. No when we went on holiday last week we came to the conclusion that the voice commands are not working anymore.
What did I already tried?
- I have format the Micro SD card in the gopro and also via my Macbook.
- Removed the battery several times
- Did two times a gopro factory reset
- Gopro was updated via the app
- Manual update process succesfully executed
The microphone does record sound, as video are played back on the computer with sound.
So what is the problem? Who can help us out?

Just to clarify, videos are still playing fine on the camera and on your Mac, right?
It's just the voice command that is not working?

The gopro is not playing sound when watching a video on the device itself. When playing the video back on the Mac it plays sound.
I will contact the support team asap.
