Try searching: "Sony 4K overheat", "Fuji 4K overheat", "Canon 4K overheat"...

And these are larger body cameras that don't have processors and sensors enclosed in waterproof housings.

While also used to avoid the EU tax, historically cameras have also had 30 minute or less recording capability in 4K to avoid overheating.

So yes, in certain circumstances, like high ambient temperature, low air flow, poor performing SD cards (even a specific recommended card can have issues), and when under direct sunlight or heat source, then it can be expected that the camera might overheat when recording at high resolutions/frame rates.

We have done all things gopro recommends but it continues! If you are reading this forum thinking about buying one forget it. Buggy poorly designed product.

yes sharpcrest7826, i sold mine, this camera is freezing time to time , even if sometime it is working, it is not stable enough,

too much problems i can stand, very bad adventure for me, i wil not do it again for sure...

I agree, you simply cannot rely on the camera to perfom without freezing, crashing, overheating or without card errors.

Go Pro should admit defeat and allow customers to trade up to the 8 free of charge rather than offering a 25% reduction which is disgusting. They also make it so difficult for you to return your product that it's just not worth the hassle - and whats the point? they'll only give you another of the same. That camera should never have been released without thorough testing. This experience has put me off ever buying another. By the way, don't expect a refund, GoPro refuse to give you one!

I have the same problem and its so frustrating - I have to remove the case - reinsert the battery and with a bit of luck I get another 5 minutes. I am going to call support and if no help downgrade this camera on social media
