Hi there everyone!
Recently, my mother gave me her old GoPro HD (i know. its very old.) and said "have fun with it!", so i just finished charging it up as it was completely dead. i popped in a 32Gb SDHC card into it (as i have the manual as well and know it can only hold up to a 32Gb.).
I turned it on and it beeped 3 times, then 1 more time and the display on the front slowly started to count up. I wasnt sure if it automatically started recording on its own or not, so i removed the battery and popped it back in and decided that i better update the firmware on it, just in case.
I followed the instructions on how to install the firmware, but during the instructions, it said that the camera should beep 6 times, which this one does not. And even when i do follow the instructions (holding down the shutter button on top and hitting the power button 3 times to get to the "UP" option), it doesnt happen. Now, randomly hitting both the shutter button and the power button will get me to that menu, but it doesnt do anything.
Is the GoPro simply messed up/broken? Or am i doing something wrong? Or is it possible that since this is a Class 10 SD card, it doesnt accept it?
Looking for any help i can get as this is my first GoPro and im a total n00b, even though i do have the manual and im pretty good with tech stuff.
Thanks in advance!

Please try to repeat the firmware update process with a clean SD card.
Format the SD card and then follow this: https://gopro.com/help/articles/how_to/hd-hero-camera-software-update
If that won't work you may check your SD card if it's on the list: https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/microSD-Card-Considerations

but i cant get it to update. thats the problem.
i reformatted the card, put the BIN file on the card, held down the shutter button and turned it on, hit the power button 3 times as it says in the instructions and nothing happens.
also, is it supposed to count up when turned on? it starts at 000, then slowly counts up and has a flashing camera icon in the top left. again, im new to GoPro's, but my immediate thought is this is broken and its automatically starting to either record or take pics when it shouldnt.
EDIT: it is automatically taking pictures. looking info up, i left it on next to me pointing at the ceiling and then plugged it back into my macbook pro and there were at least 40 pics.
im gonna say this is broken, which is why my mom gave it to me. **bleep** HER! haha

It's been so long since I've used my HERO HD I can't really remember. If I get a chance over the next few days I'll dig it out and play around with it. I'll also try the manual update. I've been super busy, but I'll see what I can do.
