Gopro Black 7 screen goes blank on connecting to a Bestview Monitor

Gopro Black 7 screen goes blank on connecting to a Bestview Monitor. 

 

I was told by your support staff that I would be able to see the live view on a monitor with my GoPro Black 7 connected to it via the HDMI port.  So I have bought a 7 inch monitor but when I connect it to the gopro the screen on the back of the camera goes blank and grid of all my recorded clips on the camera shows on the monitor with no method of navigagtion.

 

I want to use the monitor to be able to see the view being recorded. As there is 'no preview' on my phone when recording 1080/100fps I was told that the monitor and remote was what was needed to be able to see the view being recorded.   What settings do I need to have on the unit?

This is not the solution I am seeking, but is an improvement.

 

Have found a way to see the live image but the Black 7 screen still goes blank and you need to disconnect the HDMi to make any changes.

 

Is there a way to have both screens on at the same time so that changes can be made without disconnection?

Hello @robb45565. Sorry for the confusion. At this time, the screen on the camera would always black out when connected to an external display or monitor like an HDTV. We do not have a way to get the screen to show a preview while projecting to another screen. You may refer to this article https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/GoPro-App-Preview-While-Recording for resolutions supporting live preview through the GoPro App while recording.
