Gopro 6

Gopro 6 is heating up excessively and shutting down by itself. The media is being recorded upside down at times.

Re: Gopro 6

Hi @fastdive72381

What SD card are you using? Is your camera up to date?

For cameras that feature unique high-performance video modes: 2.7K and higher resolutions, and/or frame rates above 60fps, it is normal for the camera to become warm and use more power when using these modes.
Other factors that can increase camera temperature and power consumption, and decreases camera recording time.

  • Lack of airflow around the camera
  • Using the camera with the GoPro App

Thanks!

Ej

Recording upside down is just the auto rotation function of the camera not setting the correct orientation prior to you starting your recording, or you changing the camera orientation once the recording has started. The easiest way to correct this is to just lock the orientation in the preferences settings.

As far as overheating, @aragon1006 is correct. Be sure you are providing the camera with enough airflow and only use SD cards from this list https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/microSD-Card-Considerations#list2

If your card is on the list (exact make/model/size) try formatting the card in your computer (FULL not Quick) and then running a manual update https://gopro.com/update/hero6

Once completed, format the SD card in the camera and then perform a factory reset.

If that doesn't resolve the overheating, try a different card from the list.
