Hi @viggowiberg

Thanks for sharing.

Do you still remember what settings were used when this video was taken?

You can also check this article out: HOW TO MASTER HYPERSMOOTH IN LOWLIGHT CONDITIONS

Re: GoPro hero 7 black bad footage

hi,

please tell us the settings you used.

you are filming in low light, stabilization on.

- the youtube is 60fps... was the auto-low light on?

- the darker parts of the images are affected by noise, that appears as blur.

- also the fast action will "blur" moving objects if the shutter speed is left at auto (meaning max 1/60 in this case....)

in low light, and stabilisation on (of course a must) try these settings, not all at once, combine them:

4K/60fps
Protune ON
ISO MIN 100
ISO MAX 800
Sharpness Medium
Color Flat

White balance Native

you can push the things further:

Shutter speed 1/240 - to have crisp frame images

ISO min-ISO max = 800

etc

@danielr15 can add here...

just me,

robert

Re: GoPro hero 7 black bad footage

@robert1326
You pretty much nailed what I would have suggested.
I personally don't like having to color grade native White balance, so I usually just set it manually.

For low light like in this shot, I would have set MIN & MAX ISO to 400 and then used lumetri curves to bring up the highlights/whites if needed. 800 might work, but I'd rather side with too dark than too bright and noisy. Although it sounds counter intuitive, an ev of -0.5 and an auto shutter (negative EV to stop the shutter from going too slow) might also have worked.

Re: GoPro hero 7 black bad footage

thank you @danielr15!

indeed ISO 800 is sometimes too noisy.

and WB native I use when street lights, otherwise I have a greenish everything.

yes, for this case it is better WB manually.

...this is why I "called" you, this part with EV -.5 and ISO400  Smiley Wink

@viggowiberg please tell us how is going on.

and ...try different settings, make sort experiments before the "main" filming.

thank you,

robert
