Yes i had.. This summer recording stopped couple of times because of overheating.. I was recording 4k 30fps at a boat.. I have couple unusable files, is there a way to repair them?

Thank you for the reply, @megatree38810. Unfortunately, we do not have any preferred methods of data recovery as this may vary from SD card manufacturers of the preferred methods for recovering your data. However, you may be able to perform a Google search to find various data recovery options to recover the footage that had been lost. It would be best to reach out to the SD card manufacturer to further troubleshoot the SD card. 

Which SD card are you using, by the way? Is it among the recommended SD card s on this list?

Im using sandisk ultra card.. Does the problem exist with wrong card?

Yes, it does, @megatree38810. Ultra cards are known to not work compatibly with GoPro cameras. They have been observed to work initially, but eventually caused issues with the camera. When the card is not compatible with the camera, it takes more energy or effort for the camera to write into (say in recording) and communicate with the camera resulting to more heat produced. It would be best to use one of the recommended cards on the list.

99.9% of all issues (overheating, locking up/freezing, battery drain, etc.,) are SD card related. The first step to resolving issues is to use a recommended/tested card. Next, you want to run a manual update, format the card in the camera, and then do a factory reset. While recommended cards usually resolve the issue, they too can have issues, so if possible, try another new (or fully formatted) SD card off of the list.
