While your camera may have the latest version, as part of troubleshooting, we recommend a manual software update.
This resolves most issues that may have been encountered on the previous installation.
The GoPro App and Quik for Mobile update was released yesterday.

I downloaded Quik for the Windows desktop, today, and the GoPro apps, yesterday, before I posted. I will manually update the device per your advice and let you know what I experience afterward.
In an unfortunate misnomer, Quik for Windows is dreadfully slow. Also, I couldn't find a way to download one or a selection of captures instead of the whole shebang. I may have missed that feature, though. If available that feature should be more prominent, something like tiles one can select from to download.

epicbluff31543, My issue has been that the camera turns itself off 'sometime' during recording. It seems to vary in the length of time that it records before it turns off. I am not able to look at or watch the Hero4 Session, and know when it has turned off, due to me racing on my motorcycle after it has been turned on. I only, knoiw it has turned off because it is off when I am able to look at the camera, and when I off load and review what has been recorded. I had not had issues with the app or the desktop app and connectivity. My guess is it is a battery or charging or heat issue.

Now, here is a brief description of the experience I had with my Hero4 Session after using it after my testing ... "9/22/18, The Hero4 Session had been Fully Charged, (at home the night before my event and confirmed by checking using the App), the camera was switched on to record my motorcycle racing practice session and recorded only 40 seconds before turning itself off. I attempted to charge the battery, (using a 1A car/auto charger), Red light illuminated; I did not have enough time to wait for the Red light to go off before my second practice session, so I attempted to record once again; the camera did turn on, but when the session was over I discovered that it did not record any video; it must have shut off almost, immediately. When I attempted to charge it once again, (using a 1A car/auto charger), the Red light did not turned on, the camera would not switch on, and the Menu button would not display. I removed the Hero4 Session and put it away."
The next day, at home, I attempted to charge the Hero4 Session, (using a 1A DC charger), Red light illuminated - Red light turned off after a matter of seconds, Menu Display showed Battery Empty and switched Off).
It seems to me that my Hero4 Session battery is dead and I have 'had enough' of dealing with this 'non-serviceable' battery. I do want to continue using a GoPro camera for recording my motorcycle racing, but I Will Not use another GoPro camera that Does Not Have a Replaceable battery.
Before purchasing another GoPro camera I will be getting in touch with GoPro Care / GoPro Support to discuss my options.
Good Luck to any other GoPro Hero Session users.

October 3, 2018 I recieved my replacement for my GoPro Hero4 Session. Given the fact that I use my camera during my Flat Track motorcycle racing, and the fact that the racing season has nearly, come to the end, It will most likely, be approximately, six months before I am able to find out how the repalcement camera will work out.

Somehow I was epicbluff because of the other computer I was using but figured out how to change my "handle" or whatever it's called, here.
I've done all the things sugggested, and I'm so frustrated with this little cube, I want to throw it into the ocean. I've just tried to use it to transfer files to my (newest model) Macbook Air, and can't get the files to transfer using the cable that came with the camera and newly downloaded Quik software. I'm throwing the towel in on this, the worst piece of video or photographic equipment I have ever bought in my roughly thirty years of buying and using such. I had a great little project for this, but the thing just doesn't work. The software sucks. The hardware sucks. The file chunking to 17+ minutes sucks. The menu on the device sucks. The transfer rate sucks. It gets far too hot. The only thing I like about it is the form factor, but if nothing else about it is suitable for even an amateur project, I don't see how pros would ever consider this. it's far too unreliable, if it ever works. No wonder it's discoed.
Putting a fork into this one. It's D-O-N-E.
