GoPro Max doesn't support Hero Mode.

This has been a problem for quite some time. New software updates didn't help. 

 

If I am shooting 360 video and decide to switch to Hero Mode, a tap on the 360/Hero icon switches you to Photo (Panorama) as if I was swiping. If I try to swipe back to video, the screen goes dark for a split second and returns to Photo. Double-swiping leads you to Time-Lapse, as it should- but if you try to swipe back to video? You guessed it, the camera jumps straight to Photo. No matter what you do, you CANNOT select Video Hero mode. You can try to access the Hero Video function until the battery dies, but you can't even access the menu. Even while using the App.

 

Instead, after you get booted back to the Photo Mode, switch it back from Hero to 360 Photo and you'll now have access to Video once more. 

 

Long story short, the only video that works is 360. Switching to Hero mode removes your access to video function entirely.

@elikultgen, sorry to hear you're having issues with the camera. Please make sure that a recommended SD card is used for your camera. 

Reinstalling the firmware update of the camera can also help correct any errors with the current software installation. Follow the Manual Update instructions specified in this article: https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/How-to-Update-GoPro-Cameras/ta-p/394229 

 
Additionally, performing a factory reset in the camera may help.
