GoPro Max - It's like you saw the finish line and then stopped right before reaching it.

[ New ]

I bought the GoPro Max, and was really excited.  It seems like all the features I was excited about are more like "almost" features.

Per example - Recording 360 video works good, but it does not playback when trying to edit. All it shows is a black screen.  Ok, then I guess I will just upload the entire video with out editing.  Nope! can't do that either I get this message instead: gopro.png

Upload limit is 90s??? what does that even mean???  I have uploaded HUGE files to YouTube before without an issue before. I have a video on my channel that is 10hours long at 1080/60fps so I know that it is not YouTube's issue.

Also... in order to Livestream I HAVE to be in Wifi?!?!? Kinda defeats the whole purpose of being able to livestream on the go.

So, basically, it looks like I am going to have to return this item.  And that's unfortunate, becuase I was really looking forward to it.

Hopefully I am doing something wrong, and someone might be able to help me to know what I am doing wrong.

Hi @jyestur

You can share your 360 videos from the GoPro app directly, but different social platforms will have different length limitations for your videos.

See https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/360-Media-Support-in-the-GoPro-App/ta-p/408043 for reference.

Thanks!

Ej

Except only from this app... I can upload videos of any length from any other app. This is a app issue.

I'm confused by this comment, " in order to Livestream I HAVE to be in Wifi?!?!?".

How else is the media going to be transmitted? Can you not create a hotspot with your phone?

Why are you confused? You realize you can go live on Facebook and YouTube using cellular data right? I’m not so sure why you are confused. It even says in the app under the selection of 1080, “WiFi recommended”. If you can only stream while in WiFi, why is that even there?

Cellular data on a cell phone. Yeah, got that. How were you planning on getting cellular data on a camera? Oh yeah, you connect to the phone using WiFi, which in turn connects utilizing the cellular data.

However, it will work better if the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network (instead of using cellular data), which BTW is why it's recommended, and then the camera can piggyback on that through the Blutooth connection.

Just bought the GoPro Max. Nothing but issues. This camera is not ready to be put on store shelves. It might be the best camera in the world but I’ll never know because I can’t view the videos. I tried editing the 360 videos on my brand new iPhone and this error pops up: “Photo bursts, 4K 4:3 video and 360 media are not supported at this time”. I tried this on multiple iPhones from the newest generation all the way to an iPhone 6s. Called GoPro customer care and they told me to download GoPro Player on my brand new gaming PC... the only problem with that is that “GoPro Player” doesn’t even exist for PC, it’s only for Mac. Then customer service told me to install Exporter which I’ve done and it keeps crashing as soon as in import media and start the queue. I tried doing fresh installs of exporter 3 times with no luck. GoPro, you’ve obviously rushed to put the GoPro Max on shelves before all of its software was ready. This is unacceptable. You’d think your company would have learned from that same mistake you made with the crappy Karma Drone. I should add that customer care told me to “just use the MAX in Hero mode instead of 360 mode until they can sort out the software issues”... if I wanted the Hero I wouldn’t have bought the MAX!!! Smh!

Hey guy, listen, I’m not looking for your snarky replies. Mine won’t connect unless my phone that is connected to the GoPro via WiFi is also connected to a WiFi network.

Thank you, move along.

live stream using hotspot:
Make sure you have a cellular plan that lets you use your phone as a hotspot.
From the Live Stream Setup screen, select Turn On Personal Hotspot and follow the steps to connect.

It may take a minute for your hotspot to appear after you turn it on. Wait a moment and then select your hotspot when it shows up in the menu.
Stay within range of your hotspot during your live streaming session.

Thank you. I did all that the day after, and it worked. However, I’m more concerned about the 6s not supporting video playback. Any thoughts on that?

1) Download and launch Lirum Device Info Lite

2) Look under model in the main page
3) If model is N66AP or N71AP, sorry, you’ve got a Samsung chip and that may, may, be why you're having issues. If model is N66MAP or N71MAP you’ve got TSMC and there is something else causing the issue.  Be sure to delete the GoPro App, restart your phone, and then install again.

I followed your instructions and found I have the N71maP. I deleted app, reset phone and reinstalled. Same thing... this is what it is doing in case I’m not describing it well - https://youtu.be/kLC7hYjarMI

Thank you again

This thread, or a new post, should probably be moved to the GoPro app forum so people more familiar with it will be able to make suggestions. @haindash , any insight as to why the videos are not rendering on iPhone 6S?

Hi @jyestur

Will try to help :) So don't hesitate to post here https://community.gopro.com/t5/GoPro-Apps-for-Mobile/bd-p/App when it's app related.

So issue here is

- black screen when trying to do the reframing of 360 media - correct?

- iPhone 6S correct?

- OS?
- GoPro App version?
- Do you have this behavior with any videos you took or just this particular video?

@act1photo

" I tried editing the 360 videos on my brand new iPhone and this error pops up: “Photo bursts, 4K 4:3 video and 360 media are not supported at this time" If you are talking about adding your media to a Story / multi edit
> You cannot add a 360 video to a multi-clip editing without doing the reframing first and exporting the video. The 360 videos have to be reframed first and then added to a multi clip edit.
I talked about this here: https://community.gopro.com/t5/GoPro-Apps-for-Mobile/GoPro-MAX-360Grad-postproduction/m-p/444613/hig...

I can edit the videos. I can hear the audio, but the picture during editing OR playback is just a black screen. If I edit it to a size that YouTube agrees with, I can upload it and it will play the video with my blind edits. I am including a screen shot that answers your hardware/software/firmware questions and including the link to a short clip of what is happening....
this only happens on 360 videos.

Thank you for your time

@jyestur

One thing I'd like to try - send you the 6.4 beta, would that be ok for you?

To beta test GoPro App you will have to fill out a NDA first. Here: https://goprorc.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3dRVirHRT9IfmBf
I'll add you to our testers' list when it's done.

Beta process:
- iOS: install TestFlight on your device, invitation will come per email
To share feedback and for follow up > ask access to our Beta Testing feedback groups here either:
- iOS GROUP: https://www.facebook.com/groups/goproapp.ios.beta

I manage this group, it's a place where beta users share their feedback / ideas / bug reports / videos / questions etc...
We can then do the follow up on the Facebook group and per Messenger, it's best for me to help users that way.

Thanks :)

@jyestur Did you join the beta testing group? Would be better for follow up we could discuss this further on Messenger.

Are you now running the latest beta 6.4 3448? Did you try with a brand new file? Also reboot device?
