GoPro Hero3 White rapidly disconnects/reconnects to computer

I just recently bought a second hand GoPro Hero3 White edition, and when I connected it to my desktop for the first time it rapidly connects/disconnects from the driver. I am simply trying to change the camera's name and password so I can access it via my iphone. I ordered a microSD card that will be here tomorrow, and I know I can update the camera using the SD card alone once it gets here. Could this be an issue with the mini USB cable that was provided or is it more than likely an issue with the camera itself?

Hello @charlesb00133. It will be best to wait for the microSD card adapter and teh SD card. A note to remember: once you have downloaded the UPDATE.zip folder, unzip it and copy the files from inside the resulting UPDATE (non-zip) folder to the root of your SD card - copy the files, not the folder. Feel free to post back should you have other concerns or questions.

Thanks for the reply. Is this a common problem with the Hero3s? Or something that has come up in the past?

@charlesb00133, several factors can cause the problem. Ensure that the GoPro USB cable is used. You may also check the USB port to ensure that there's no issue with the connection.
