My hero session was connected to the app and after a app update it lost connection to the app and wouldn't reconnect. So I went on and tried resetting the camera and redownloading the app to find that the camera wouldn't go into pairing mode. How do i fix this problem?

So you said you reset the camera, that's a good start.
have you reset the wifi settings? And forgot the camera on your wifi settings on your phone also?
And give it a try after.
