GoPro Hero 9's biggest problem can not be fixed[ New ]
GoPro is trying to be a picture camera company. They put more megapixels into a tiny sensor on the Hero 9. It's good for photos but really bad for video especially if you are filming in low light. The only fix is to make a camera with less megapixels or enlarge the sensor.
This first picture proves the point. Take a good look at his arm. It is glowing because the Hero 9 is having issues exposing it properly in the low light situation. The Hero 5 does not have this issue in this example. The Hero 6, 7, and 8 would have similar results (no glow). This is because they have less megapixels on the same sized sensor.
Now add even more low light and it ruins the video completely on the Hero 9 (sun had just set).
I am asking (begging) GoPro to think about what they want to do with their future cameras. Make them action cameras or make them photo cameras. Less megapixels or a bigger sensor would create an awesome action camera. Not everyone can film in perfect lighting!
