Re: GoPro Hero 8: Output

The GoPro Hero 8 does not support a USB-C to HDMI connection.  You will need the GoPro Media Mod if you want to display footage from your camera directly to your TV via the HDMI.

As for output information.  please see below..

Connecting to a Big Screen with an HDMI Cable
Media Mod has a micro-HDMI port that lets you connect your HERO8 Black to an HDTV. You’ll be able to see your photos and videos on the big screen or to use it to preview your shot. Plug a micro-HDMI cable (sold separately) into your Media Mod and connect that to your desired HDMI port on your display.

  1. When your camera is connected to the display, your rear LCD will go black
  2. Your camera's rear LCD will still respond to touches and swipes
  3. After the GoPro Splash screen, you will see controls on top with your media gallery below
  4. You can choose to review your footage or put your camera into Monitor Mode (a live preview of what the camera is seeing)
  5. When in Monitor mode, you can start a recording or change your recording type (photo, video, timelapse)

Heads Up:

  • 4K preview and playback on a 4K TV will be displayed in full resolution at a maximum of 30 frames per second. The maximum resolution while recording is 1440p for 4:3 content and 1080p for footage shot in 16:9.
  • When you start recording, there will be a delay to when the image is shown on the display.
  • If you have Image Stabilization on, you will have a lag in video/audio of about 1 second.

Media Playback on Your HDTV
There are two ways to navigate the media playback menu on your TV.

Button Control

  1. Press the Mode button User-added image on your camera to cycle through your options.
  2. Press the Shutter button User-added image on your camera to make a selection.

Touch Screen Control
Swipe and tap your camera’s screen to navigate and select items.

Re: GoPro Hero 8: Output

Media Mod adds new microphone, audio input, and HDMI settings to your
HERO8 Black. Make sure your camera is using the most current software to
access these settings.

Re: GoPro Hero 8: Output

and only with this devices it is possible to view my video via HDMI on my tv? Also will this have a “live” Version? Like it has with the Hero 7 black? Or is it possible to directly view it with a Type-C to HDMI cable?
