GoPro Hero 8 Image Quality

Hello, I just recieved the new Hero 8 and due to the **bleep**weather I made some try at home. Unfortunately I found out, that the Quality of the photos is very very poor, even compared to the hero 4.

It clearly visible even without zoom-in, thats why I tried it.

If have also tried it on a 3-way with ISO100, flat color, raw-format and long exposure, but there is always some kind of noise or fragments in the picture. Is it possibli a HW-problem? Does anyone have the same behavior?

The Test2 picture is extracted from Hero 4 image:Test2.jpg

The Test1 picture is a screenshot from H8 with same ISO as the one before:Test1.jpg

Cheers,

Mirko

hey Mirko, all,

h4 vs h8.... always in the higher firmware releases, GoPro enhance the noise....this could explain the "better" h4 in your photos.

but...let's get h8 to the limit... at least a LED light at 50% (Ikea Tradfri multiple colors LED's)  mounted in a glass wall I consider a good push to the limit for a matches box size camera.

handheld photos different ISO, you can see the exif on each:

I've play only with ISO.... I'm please with what I see even maybe a noise in shadows....

just me,

robert

ISO 800

ISO max 3200 ...gopro choose 2091

Go outside during a sunny day and take some video or a photo you'll be very pleased go pros have never been good indoors in low light.

Re: GoPro Hero 8 Image Quality

hi,

can you share the shutter speed and if camera was hand held or on support? did you use timer of phone to trigger?

if you downloaded the photo, read the EXIF infos.

maybe the long exposure and the slight movement, when you press the button, makes the difference.

anyway seems that maximum shutter speed in normal Photo is 1/8s

try to use in low light night mode and camera on the tripod/support.

just me,

robert

Re: GoPro Hero 8 Image Quality

Mirko,

you have shoot RAW. (meaning two files, a JPG + a GPR file)

on the phone are you able to open the GPR files?

how are looking the RAW files opened in Adobe?

thank you,

robert

Re: GoPro Hero 8 Image Quality
