GoPro Hero 8 Black Disconnecting from S10

Hi I just received my GoPro Hero 8. All excited to give the new camera a try and instead I have spent hours trying to get this thing to work. Real awesome experience so far!

 

My phone will connect to the gopro and then instantly drop connection with the gopro and be unable to reconnect.

 

I have read the online help guides and tried unpairing my device through bluetooth and wifi and reset the camera settings and my phone. I did a manual update because it wouldn't install over the app and that still made no difference. Please help I just want to be able to use my new camera!

Hello @kevink64105. Is this always the case? To verify, you have the latest version of the GoPro App installed and the phone is updated to the latest OS version, right? Which phone model are you using? See if there is anything on your phone settings that may be interfering with the Wi-Fi signal from the camera. 

 

Some Smart Wi-Fi implementations categorize the Wi-Fi networks broadcast by your GoPro camera as having poor signal. Because of this, certain Smart Wi-Fi features need to be disabled. Follow these instructions to do so:

  1. Disable “Smart Network Switch” or “Auto Network Switch” from the phone’s Wi-Fi settings.
  2. Go to: Wi-Fi Settings > Advanced > Disable “Smart Network Switch” or “Auto Network Switch.”

Support Hub member @fastsurf78486 resolved connectivity issue with by turning off VPN on his phone as described here. See if this could be the same case on your phone. Let us know how it works out. Thanks!
