Re: GoPro Hero 7 Release Date?

https://youtu.be/wWddwUP8sdo

Just seen this, and wow they really have not updated the camera at all. Hero 6+ anyone?

4k60 fps basic stabilisation (probabaly hero5 quality) and only wide angle.

2.7k 120fps still no stabilisation
1080p 240fps still no stabilisation

Essentially it's the same camera as the Hero6 but with livestreaming.

4k60fps linear with hypersmooth stabilisation is the only thing that could have convinced me to buy this camera. As it stands there is literally no point in upgrading from the Hero6.

Very disappointed.

Also what is the point of bringing back 720p only in 60fps?

Re: GoPro Hero 7 Release Date?

If "regular" stabilization means Hero6 level of stabilization, I'm pretty stoked to have it on 4K/60. I know people like linear because it takes a step out of the editing process, and for social media posting I do use it, but I've never thought it have the best quality. I prefer to straighten in editing personally.

As far as upgrading from a Hero6, it doesn't look like there is anything, "Must Have" unless it's fulfilling a need, like with live streaming. Since I already think the Hero6 is a big improvement over the Hero5 and earlier models, I won't have any hesitancy in recommending the Hero7. Of course, as a fanboy, I'm most definitely getting the Hero7. 4K/60 surfing or mountain biking? Yes please and thank you!

@quickhero77554

Yeah, we know this is based on the GP1 chip with some extra dsp cycles.

GP2 in Hero8 I guess.

Re: GoPro Hero 7 Release Date?

Yes agree about the benefits of  some of the added features.  and  I will have to  sit down and see what will work best for my personal needs

As Cyberlink PowerDirector 17 just been  released they offer  as well excellent additions. , if owning the older version it is going to be thesame, is it worth the update t othe next level.  And like any other product out there. For the older model  owners it will be a big improvement, for you and I it is just the next step up  on the Hero  6 to hero 7 and that is where  we must decide to   get one. works well, sell or hold and hand down  the hero 6.

I'll  watch theshow, see what tothers say and go from there.  I most likely will  get one so I can be up to date with the  place I hang.

Re: GoPro Hero 7 Release Date?

i'll be getting one as soon as Argos get them in stock anyway. I'm hoping the 7 is the same jump as the 6 was to the 5, it didn't seem much on paper but the whole feel of the interface etc made the 5 useless

Re: GoPro Hero 7 Release Date?

With the Hero6 being as good as it is, I don't think there will be as big of a jump of improvement like there was with the previous Hero models to Hero6. I was pretty happy with the Hero3+ for a very long time. Except for the Hero4 Silver rear LCD and night shutter options, when people asked me if I thought they should spend the money on an upgrade I generally said no, especially considering the $499 price tag on the Hero4 Black.

Now, when it came to upgrading to the Hero6, I definitely felt it was worth it. As a fanboy, it frustrates me when people would recommend the Hero5 over the Hero6 or argue that other Hero cameras were just as good. I really feel a lot of people missed out thinking they were getting a similar camera and experience by saving a little money on the Hero5. Since the Hero5 was GoPro's #1 selling camera, there are plenty of people who should be upgrading to the Hero7.
