Have you checked that video link?
I've just checked I had all the videos more than 2 months old with all perfect sound starting straight away.
Then I have not been using my camera for some weeks and the whole new portion of videos has sound issues

Yes I watched WHy I asked about your sound setting in the camera? I suggest to check out about Firmware if that can clear up, if reloading it, I am sure you are up to date because that iswhat gopro will say reflash firware , and be up to date for fixing.
so more or less you got an issue and should get this to gopro via t hat phone call. They are pro's in fixing over the phone, but failure fixing it via threads.

Format the card in your computer and then run a Manual update (even if you are on the latest firmware)
Go into preferences on the camera and then RESET to factory defaults
Tap Preferences > Factory Reset > Reset.
NOTE: In addition to Camera Defaults, this resets date/time, camera username/password, and unregisters the device from your GoPro Plus account
Test with all three audio options: Auto, Wind, and Stereo
