GoPro Hero 6 needs repair - out of warranty - service/repair centre in India ??

Hi,

I bought a GoPro Hero 6 in 2017-end.

For the last few months, I am facing troubles while using the camera.

I have the following problems with my GoPro Hero 6 :
(1) not switching on when the on/off button is pressed
(2) battery not retaining power when charged
(I tried by replacing the battery, but the problem is not solved)

Now, I am using the camera by attaching the GoPro usb cable to a  20000 mAH power bank.
Doing this :-
I can now switch on the camera, shoot photos and videos, access other functions like settings...

BUT -
I cannot use any mount since the protector case cannot be used (the usb sort can't be covered)

The camera can't be used more than 3-4 mins at a stretch - as it gets very heated and sometimes shuts down

Photos/videos cannot be transferred directly via USB cable - the memory card has to be taken out and then inserted in to a card reader for the transfer of files

SO,
Can you please say if this can repaired anywhere in India. If so, I can courier you the camera to your facility.

Re: GoPro Hero 6 needs repair - out of warranty - service/repair centre in India ??

@indrarupsaha - For the first issue, try doing a manual update on the camera's firmware. Instructions are at https://gopro.com/en/us/update/hero6. Once that's done, reset the camera to its factory settings using the instructions at https://gopro.com/help/articles/how_to/How-to-Reset-the-Camera-to-Default-Settings. That should take care of that issue.

For the fast battery drain, since this issue is happening with multiple batteries, there are a couple of things to check. First, take a look inside the battery compartment to make sure there is no damage to the battery connectors that might be causing a short. Also, double-check that the SD card you're using is compatible with your camera. If you have another SD card that is on our list at https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/SD-Cards-that-Work-with-GoPro-Cameras/ta-p/394308, please try that card and see if there's an improvement. Using a non-compatible card can cause the camera to be in a constant sync state that generates a lot of heat and uses power very quickly.

As for repair facilities, we don't operate any ourselves, but if you reach out to our team at https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs, we can help with any issues you have.

Re: GoPro Hero 6 needs repair - out of warranty - service/repair centre in India ??

Hi jefft,

Based on your suggestion, I tried to update the firmware on my camera through the app.

But, connection between the camera and app cannot be established.

I tried several times, with wifi/bluetooth options kept on, internet bandwith at 2.4 GHz , BUT without any result.

This is another problem that I forgot to mention.

I factory-reset the camera and again tried to establish connection between the camera and app.

BUT this time too - connection could not be established.

SO, I wonder what next can I try ?

Thanks & Regards,

Indrarup

Try updating by doing a manual update. That will put the update directly on the SD card so you won't have to worry about the connection issues.
