In the last year I Bought the Hero 6 and was told much of what is being said about the Hero 7 and now the Hero 6 is being slammed and used as a model to basically sacrifice. Being a I am an owner of a Hero 6 and waited patiently for the Firmware 2.01 that instead of just correecting some issues also dumbed down the Stabalization. I hope that GoPro will continue to or begin to focus on giving the Hero 6 a good and solid place instead of being show to be inferior and in so many sales pitches it is something that I am almost embarasssed to own. truth be told many people said that the 6 was not much better than the Hero Black 5. But I was new and wanted to believe in this company, instead I was deceived by customer service reps in Manila or other cities in the Philippines I was taken down this long road being told that I had to update my firmware to the most recent even though I stated that I had 2.01. I was scolded and talked down to in how I was not doing it right and in the end the only reason no firmware update showed up for me is because I already had it. That was a 45 minute phone call. It was the third call after being disconnected by other representatives. Now there is a long list and a lot of people that are at odds and many that feel victimized because they can watch other people buy a hero Black 7 and listen to how there's is just not the camera it was supposed to be. And even though they share the same chip I am hearing now from 3rd party reviews that the Mics that are used on the Hero 7 are superior yet even before the Hero Black 7 no one realy seemed to know how to get a good audio or what the right steps are. And then there was the big scare about bankruptcy. Yes, that was the scare that we would not have any support because we would lose the company. But how about GoPro just telling us clients that have already easily spent a grand on a Hero 6, some Bstteries, memory and all the other accesories where exactly we stand in the future with GoPro. Are we the scrifice? Is it the only way to make the Hero Black 7 look good by running the Hero Black 6 down? And let us tlk about the website and why there is no comparison chart containing the current and true specs for the Hero Black 6 and the Hero Black 5. I saw the Hero Black 6 disapear and around the time they said it would be back up they had removed the Hero Black 5 from the Comparison Chart. I have not looked at the Memory but The Hero Black 6 has always had a limited compatibility with the memory options compared to the other GoPro products. I'm yet to look and see if that chart favours the hero Black 7 but I will be looking at that very soon. Among many things I am a Audio tech and I had big plans (still do) and I had planned on the Hero 6 being part of those plans. I do not like or apreciate a company that burns their own product and remember I am the face of that product so like many other I am also feeling that burn. Why not stand tall and make sure you have correctly taken care of the many issues with the Hero 6 if not before than while it is still possibe. All of the people that have leaks in 2 and 3 feet of water but told that it i a user issue....and now I am hearing how the Hero 7 has none of these issues? how can all of this be true? And if it is then was it even correct to sell such a fragile and undeveloped excuse for a Action CAM (Hero Black 6)....or is it actualy so close that with a few updates it would be working like a champ and hey, you are still selling the Hero 7 for less so you should not lose sales. Why not make us out to be a united team of winners and not those that down one another in forums and remain so uneducated that even the authorized retail stores place the wrong Sandisk "Ultra" as a option for the Hero Black 6... I agree, it is not. but lets make it known to those that are representing GoPro.... I have stood up for this produc tthe last year constantly doing more and more research and spreading knowledge that was verified by GoPro to as many as possible and now I am feeling like I was stabbed in the back. I will continue this later as each day I see more and more of this poor sales practices.

@szetek GoPro is about Sales. They took the H6 off so any new person will not make hte mistake of buying one at the same price of a Hero 7. They may have stopped production as well, and maybe hte timing was perfect, that their stock ran out just in time, or they have a select few left over , and a phone call can get you one. Also they must save stock als ofor all those faulty and defect that may still come in till Aug/sept 2019. They do not do repairs the ydo replacements. SO yes a lot of thought must have been involved if asked. and that is my Humble opinion on that.
Because gopro rin release and 99. plus% of the cameras are not out yet till sept 30th, 2018 there are those that have been out we are commenting on .... I'll wait a little longer before we actually hear from real people......
Yes I hear what you said and hope that what yoyu said was just as true as the new Hero 8 coming out in a Years time with Hyperspeed, hyperflux andshockomatic sounds.
GoPro Hero 8 a coming GEE

"the only reason no firmware update showed up for me is because I already had it"
This is incorrect. It doesn't matter if you have the latest firmware installed or not, when you run a manual update it will run through the process and then display a check that the firmware was successfully installed.
"the 6 was not much better than the Hero Black 5"
Incorrect. The Hero6 Black IS MUCH better than the Hero5 with every feature. Stabilization - Much better, Dynamic Range - Much Better, HDR over WDR - Much Better, LCD responsiveness - Much Better, Color Profile - Much Better, Auto Shutter with ISO 100 - Much Better (especially since Hero5 doesn't have this), Faster Wifi transfer - Much Better, Face moment detection for Quik Story - Much Better, 4K/60, 2.7K/120, 1080p/240 - All Better than not having them, 4K/30 stabilized - not on Hero5, Auto Burst Mode - Much, Much Better, and more, but hopefully you get the point.
"dumbed down the Stabalization" - Not really. Actually, MUCH SMARTER stabilization as it now doesn't try to stabilize what it can't (mainly low light) and almost eliminates all of the terrible jumps and jitters of the previous firmware.
"the Mics that are used on the Hero 7 are superior" - Yeah, that's pretty much what happens with things. Each time a new model of whatever is released, it generally has newer and better tech.
"no one realy seemed to know how to get a good audio" - It's a WATERPROOF ACTION CAM. The Audio has been improved on the HERO7 for sure, but it's still limited to the fact that it's an ACTION CAMERA with waterproof membranes covering the mics. Expectations might be a little too high for some people.
"I am a Audio tech and I had big plans" then you are going to need an external mic or a different audio recorder, but you must already know this. A WATERPROOF ACTION CAMERA isn't exactly what an "Audio tech" would use for quality sound.
" why there is no comparison chart containing the current and true specs for the Hero Black 6 and the Hero Black 5" - Because they are not going to be selling these cameras. They don't show the HERO HD, HERO2, HERO3, HERO3+ or HERO4 cameras on the comparison either. Why, because it's irrelevant to people who are shopping for a camera. Why would they need to know about specs for cameras that are not available on the website? Of course, if your curious, you can just check out the user manuals for those cameras.
"All of the people that have leaks in 2 and 3 feet of water but told that it i a user issue" - Most of the time, it is a user issue, although the early production HERO5 Black cameras did seem to have more issues with manufacturer defect. This has not been the same for the HERO6. It's very rare, if ever, that people complain of water damage with the HERO6.
"and now I am hearing how the Hero 7 has none of these issues? how can all of this be true?" - Because they fixed the issues the early production HERO5 Black had. It hasn't been an issue for two years now.
"fragile and undeveloped excuse for a Action CAM (Hero Black 6)" - Um, No. Hero6 Black is pretty durable and is definitely waterproof when used correctly.
"even the authorized retail stores place the wrong Sandisk "Ultra" as a option for the Hero Black 6" - They know, and GoPro does tell them, but it's just much cheaper for these stores to lie to customers and throw a cheap card in and call it a savings bundle. This isn't GoPro's fault. You can help by not shopping at these sites.
" I am feeling like I was stabbed in the back" - this is a little over dramatic, don't you think? You purchased a great camera. Nothing has changed except a new model has come out with a few more features. That's going to happen. It doesn't mean you no longer have a very good camera, but yes, you no longer have the "BEST" camera. And you know what, next year the owners of the Hero7 Black will no longer have the "Best" camera either.

boy that was a long winded way of saying "i've got a Hero 6 but want a 7". Sell the 6 & buy one
NO, that is not what I said, and it is not what I asked or reason I comented.
