I have to vote down my own statement as well: Once it worked for a few days, but without changing anything in the camera settings the Hero 6 is now constantly discharged after a few days.
What you have seen - camera LED remains red even if it is not charging - happened to me yesterday as well.

Same problem here,
Got a Gopro6 and the grip. Grip is like 2 days old.
Yesterday I put the camera into the grip, and put them on charge. After 2h, I saw it was charging. But in the morning, battery was almost dead (grip), and the camera was 60% battery. And the camera was SUPER hot.
Both grip and Camera where turned off. But is there a way the camera was still "awake"? with blavk screen and draining more power than than the charge can sustain ? (Wifi was off I checked).

I also have the problem that my Hero 6 battery drains to zero in several hours (overnight) when my Grip turns it off. I have tried it with wifi on and wifi off. It seems I will just have to take the Hero camera out of the Grip everytime I finish using the Grip. I hope Gopro can fix this problem. It is a bit annoying.

Update to my reply: I turned the wifi off and left the camera and grip off overnight. The camera went from 100% to 95% charge which is a huge improvement from a complete drain. Maybe this is all normal, maybe I need to deactivate something esle (GPS?) (Voice?), I dont know. But it seems to me that the camera or the grip should KNOW what the average user would normally want. For example, when I turn something OFF it should be OFF. So the system could automatically configure itself to make sure the system is truly OFF. And/or the camera could warn on the screen that it is turning this or that off and give the user a chance to overide the default if they want to leave something on.
GoPro needs to pay attention to these simple details. We are not all experts or have the time to become experts by trial and error fiddling. To reach the larger audience, Gopro should think about these details and automatize how systemes work so that they function as a non-expert would expect.

Same type issue, twice, as listed here with grip and camera being fully charged and then arrive to top of mountain to ski, mount grip on backpack, turn on and .........bam............. battery dead....... Very frustating and agree with previous poster that I do not have the time to do the troubleshooting of an IT person with, did I mention, a BRAND NEW GoPro Karma w Grip..

I have the same problem. Was on the chat with gopro for more than an hour to get help... instead of a solution I was offered a new battery for my camera. This is not what I need GoPro... I need you to retain me from switching to your competitor and you are not doing it well. I like your cameras and I bought several, but I just don't understand why nobody addresses those serious product issues prior to their release. It is not us, the buyers, who should assume the consequences of your mistakes. Unacceptable, period !

When this issue was first posted I checked and my camera battery had died. I then tested over the next few days with different settings turned off and turned on. I couldn't replicate the battery drain. The problem with my test is I changed the camera's battery to another that I own (I have several for both my Hero5 and Hero6) and didn't mark which was the original. Since the issue didn't replicate, the assumption is that the battery drain occurred from an issue with that particular battery.
I haven't had time to go through and test each individual battery again. I assume I'll eventually cycle through to find it again, but for now the camera and Karma Grip are working fine and I'm not getting the unusual battery drain. Hopefully the new battery GoPro sends you will fix your issue. If not, then support can continue trouble shooting with you. Starting with the simplest, most obvious, solution is always the first step. I don't know why you think they should be doing something different at this point.
