When you go to turn it back on, does a bandaid symbol appear on the screen briefly. If so, I have the same problem. I'm shooting continuously outside at 2.7k 120fps. I'm now on my 4TH hero 6 and it looks like its going back tomorrow. I had a call from the GoPro rep saying he didn't think it was an over heating issue as the use these cameras in racing cars where the cockpit often reached 65C and they shoot at 4k 60fps.
I have tried 2 different Sandisk cards. both V30. Both Extreme Pro (128gb & 64gb).
Harvey Norman (my camera outlet) said bring it back and they will run different cards to see if that's the issue.
I'm not sure if the cards are the issue as occassionally (rarely) I've had the camera run until both cards were full.
I'll know more after the camera store run their tests & I'll let you know.
I'm guessing GoPro never intended the camera for this sort of use and it will turn out to be an overheating issue.

I have the same problem with updated gopro, i record in 2.4k 60fps and hero 6 still randomly turn off and turn on after cca 8-9 minutes of running. I was skiing so the overheating is out of doubt.
Thank you for any advices

Like the other person in the thread, I was told the same SD/firmware BS. I don't buy it. Something is seriously wrong with the Hero 6s. I don't know if it needs a firmware fix or what but the problem needs to be recognized before it's solved.

To original poster and others. This is a problem with firmware 1.60. I have duplicated this on 3 different hero 6 black cameras. Firmware 1.5 will not turn off and will record as long as you wish, but it too has its own bugs. Gopro coders need to fix these problems asap. I run the camera myself for long hours, and the latest firmware is crap. Roll back firmware to 1.5 and try it out. Do a google search for firmware 1.51 for gopro hero 6 black and you will find a link to down load it.

I've been trying to reach GoPro staff through this forum, phone number, snail mail, even tried contacting their staff directly on Facebook.
They truly don't care about their most loyal customer base.
The only way to get things done is if we post 1-star reviews on their amazon product page.
Low rating = no more sales for their product.
No sales will get them moving.
