GoPro Hero 6 Black - Water in Battery Compartment from Snorkeling

I've had my hero 6 for over a year, I usually use it for skiing. I'm on a holiday on a lifetime in Galapagos and on my second day snorkeling in the water it stopped working with an error..."SD Card Error". I took it back to my boat opened it up and found a couple of drops of water in the battery and SD card compartment. I cleared out the drops with a piece of cotton, then used a hair dryer (on cool) to completely dry it out. The camera no longer recognises any SD cards, it always shows "No SD card" and the power button's functionality has stopped. I was snorkeling, so was no more than 1.5m depth in water. The SD card works fine on my computer. I've tried 3 SD cards and the same error. This has seriously scuppered my chances of getting some tremendous underwater footage on this holiday. I'm not sure how to get it repaired in Ecuador, or whether GoPro will repair it. Any help much appreciated.
