Like a pet rock each gopro acts differently. I got 10 mics all work, not sure why you're finding it difficultto get one to work

I use a GE boom mic, GE lapel mic. Bola wireless mic kit, and its mic, sony wireless mic kit , and its mic, Olmpus 51S mic, sony clone ecm-70p, to name a few. they work for me.
