I purchased my first ever Gopro hero 5 Black two weeks ago. I have to admit I was totally excited. You can imagine my dissapointment when all I got trying to film was continuous "SD CARD ERROR" messages. So I returned it to the shop where I purchased it. They replaced the product, same story "SD CARD ERROR". I had contacted Gopro. Their help was to remove battery and SD Card, replace SD Card, then battery after 10 seconds and format card after this. IT DOES NOT WORK........Today I returned both SD Card and Replacement Camera and went to a different store. I purchased a Hero 5 Black exactly the same as the other two, and a SanDisk 64GB Extreme Plus Card. Haleluja it works.......so far. GoPro you have a problem, your cameras are very good but you need to pin down exactly what SD cards work with them or you will loose customers. I was a gnats hair away from walking away

I'm having the exact same problem. Got a Hero5 Black for xmas. Was away and finally opend on Monday. Has not worked at all.
Card error in camera, won't format in camera, when I put the card in a PC the computer says about the card: "is not accessible" "The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"
The camera won't format the cars, I can't format the card with a computer, I have tried the know fixes on the GoPro site.
The card came budled with the camera from Best Buy
SanDisk Extreme PLUS 64GB, MicroSD XC I, V30, U3 with code SDQXWG-0664G-ANCMA
This card appears to be on one ok list on the GoPro Site but not listed on another list on the GoPro Site
Trying to find out if its the camera or card.

@jims8110 - Thanks for the reply. I don't know the exact model of card you were using, but those specs look ok. FYI that our list of recommended cards is at https://gopro.com/help/articles/Block/microSD-Card-Considerations.
We have been hearing reports of issues with some cards. We posted this message a couple of weeks ago regarding this type of issue: https://community.gopro.com/t5/Cameras/Pairing-SD-Cards-with-Your-HERO5-Black-Camera/m-p/25726#U2572.... Following these steps should resolve the issues for most customers, but if they don't, our Support team at https://gopro.com/help/PKBContactus will be happy to troubleshoot with you.
Glad you ultimately got it figured out.

@quickrange37631 - I don't see that particular model on our list at https://gopro.com/help/articles/Block/microSD-Card-Considerations, but it's possible it could work. Not being able to format it on your computer though is a red flag that there may be something wrong with the card.
I'd recommend reaching out to our Support team at https://gopro.com/help/PKBContactus so we can troubleshoot this directly.
Thanks,
Jeff

It is on this page though. https://workswith.gopro.com/info#results
I put an old card in my son had in his cube and the camera worked. I guess I will have to take this up with Best Buy or Sandisk. GoPro might want to question Sandisk becasue as you have stated there seems to be know issues with this card and maybe there is a bad batch. Also question Best Buy as to why they would continue to bundle a faulty card with the caera over the holidays. It makes GoPro look bad for the many people like me whoe were unable to use the camera out of the box.

good afternoon. I would like to get advice from the producers themselves. A week ago I returned home from Europe to Novosibirsk. Brought out a super camera GoPro Hero 5 Black. The camera was new and zapakowane by the manufacturer. In Novosibirsk have already bought for the camera memory card, Samsung microSDXC UHS-I Card Pro Plus 64 GB. When I inserted the memory card in the GoPro 5 camera gave the error "Sd Card Error". I have tried to format the flash drive and the other card carriers from other manufacturers 10 class, but it gave no result. You as a manufacturer, what would you suggest to do? and soon to the vacation fly and I would like to take pictures of her surfing and so on...
