GoPro Hero 5 Black won't connect to Google Pixel [ New ]

I cannot get my GoPro Hero 5 Black to connect to my Google Pixel no matter what I try. There have been a number of remedies that I have tried to resolve the connectivity issue but none have worked. 

- Reboot phone, reboot GoPro

- Reset GoPro connections

- Delete GoPro wireless network from phone

- Update firmware on GoPro to latest release

When I initiate the connection process I am able to connect to the GoPro wireless network, however the connection process does not go beyond the instruction screen. It just keeps cycling through the three steps on the Add Camera screen. 

My Google Pixel is running Andriod Oreo (8.0) .... this is the only thing that I can think of as to why I am having an issue establishing connectivity between the GoPro Hero 5 and the GoPro app on my phone.

Has any one else encountered this issue? How did you resolve it?

I too am having this same problem, when I first got the hero 6 it was fine for the first day or 2, now it is a pain in the ass to connect.

I can get it to work by trying to reset connections on camera, going into phone settings and doing a force stop and clear data on the go pro app. But even this only works 30 percent of the time.

My father in law has just bought a 6 after been so impressed by the app, Quik Stories and how easy it was for me to share clips of the grand kids.

I fear for him now the app will be a major headache.

Please don't tell us to run to the usual go pro connection troubleshooting fixes, they make no difference.

I was going to reinstall the app and went to play store, if you look at the reviews posted their is 100s of people saying the same thing.

Agggghhh so I just recorded a clip which glitched out big time.. I want to post it here but can't connect to the app lol :S Love this camera but the bugs are really starting to get to me..

You can try this not sure if it will work or not: 

1. On camera, go to Connections > Wi-Fi Band > choose 2.4 GHz.
2. On phone's wifi settings, forget the camera's AP. Then manually re-connect to it and enter the password.
3. Launch the GoPro app.
