GoPro Hero 5 Black: solid red light, not turning on, overheating

I used my GoPro Hero 5 Black about 4 times or so now. Right now it is showing solid red on the rear and the bottom indicator and is overheating. There is also condensation forming in the lens in the front due to the overheating. I tried the manual 8-10 seconds holding down both buttons trick and it didn't work. Can anyone please help me?

What does this exactly do to the gopro? I am trying to understand the process that happens when you perform those steps.
