I need my GoPro for my first solo flight as a student pilot, and I need to make sure it's 100% ready on the day of. On the first unofficial recording test however, it recorded for one hour, then stopped. This would have been fine, since I started recording at a 78% battery and was expecting it to get only around an hour, but what makes me think it's another issue is that:
1) The camera itself didn't shut off. The screen just stopped at "hr1:00" ( I can't mess with it during my flight so I need it to keep recording)
2) It stopped at EXACTLY 1 hour, and stayed that way until I turned it off and put it back on charge
3) The battery was at 14% when the recording stopped, which is a low percentage, but low enough to stop filming without cutting off?
4) I've been reading links on what happens to other people when their GoPros die while recording, and none of the ones I've read about have stopped recording while staying on.
- I have the Lexar, 32GB microSD card mentioned on the official wesite
- It did heat up, but not enough to where it seemed unusual
- I just bought the GoPro from Target yesterday (2/19/2018)
- I will do more tests
- I will try to configure the SD card for my GoPro and check for any new updates on it, but I'm scared the problem will continue
This first solo is a very big deal for any pilot, and I won't do it until I know I will get the complete footage to keep with me forever.
