GoPro Hero 5 Black metadata doesn't transfer

I have a hero 5 black & when I transfer photos or video to my laptop using either capture or file explorer, I loose the original date time stamp of the photo's and it is replaced by the time the photo or video is transferred. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Bob

You have not lost it, it is telling you the date you copied the file/created the file on the windows machine.

The quick n dirty way to resolve it is to right click the file select properties, the details tab and the creation date will be shown if you scroll down.

Now create a folder with the date as the name something like GoPro-28-3-17, now select all the clips/photos.

on a windows machine do, hold control and press A or right click and select all or just drag the mouse around the files via left mouse button and then drag all the files into the newly named folder.

in the future you can have windows do this on import by specifying the folder name as the date.

Re: GoPro Hero 5 Black metadata doesn't transfer

Thanks epicallyepic. I will have to use manual fix as you suggested. I expected gopro to support media import & retain original date time stamp. Guess not.
