Re: GoPro Hero 5 Black Turning On By Itself
[ New ]I have just experienced the same thing...turning off either by button or voice turns the camera off but with wifi still running on camera, it turns on again by itself, even when phone connected to another network and app closed!
This was never a problem with GP4...why do you have to manually turn off the wifi on the camera, why does it keep polling even when off, why not have the wifi turn off when you turn the camera on.....
why not go back to the way the wifi worked on last model....com'on guys, basic stuff...if it ain't broke...don't fix it....getting irritated now with "upgrades"...poor battery life, voice commands working only in dead quiet environments, wifi sucking life out of battery, app failing at sharing...and now auto start, jsut fiddling with the unit for 10mins, I lost 40% battery!!

Re: GoPro Hero 5 Black Turning On By Itself
[ New ]So update...
Recharged battery via external battery.....removed battery, replaced battery, switched on wifi, switched off camera....camera did not start automatically!!!! So something was fixed but not sure how....
So charged to 100%,
switched off wifi,
switched off camera,
switched on 7 hrs later,
battery down to 98%..
So either the camera used 2% booting up OR it is "leaking" when in the unit even tho the unit is "off"......
Sheezzz nuts man!
PS: FW is latest

Re: GoPro Hero 5 Black Turning On By Itself
[ New ]To all following this thread, it sounds like most folks have resolved this issue by turning off the wireless connections and just a few have by updating the camera to the latest firmware (v01.50). To gather some more information in this regard, I'd ask that anyone following this thread update their camera charge up their camera, and then turn the wireless connections ON. After that, turn off the camera, and please let me know if the issue occurs or if with the v.01.50 software it is taken care of even with connections left on.
Thank you!

Re: GoPro Hero 5 Black Turning On By Itself
[ New ]Hi,
I have updated my camera to 1.5 and it still turns on by itself if the connections option is left on. Also what happens is the auto power off doesn't power off, i guess thats why it goes flat so quickly :-(
Cheers

Re: GoPro Hero 5 Black Turning On By Itself
[ New ]Thank you @Anonymous, @Anonymous, and @capediver.
In most cases I've seen in these threads, turning off connections seemed to be the key, though sometimes the update did the trick, and in @Anonymous 's case even turning connections off didn't seem to fix the problem.
We would really appreciate the feedback of other users if they are running v01.50 and testing to see behavior with connections ON and connections OFF. @Anonymous @Anonymous @tyroraptor @vstromtrooper @andregixxer ?
Additionally, if any of you could provide a video showing the camera turning on by itself, that would be helpful. And finally, do you see any patterns as to how long the camera stays off before powering on automatically, and if it depends upon the camera being plugged in or left unplugged?
