GoPro Hero 4 black without battery

I've mounted my gopro to a gimbal on a drone. It is connected with 5v power supply and video output. The problem is that the GoPro battery causes some distortion to my powersystems and to my FPV image. I would like to run the camera without battery to have a clear video and to save some weight. The issue here is that the camera wont turn on if the SD card is inserted. Or if I power it on first and then insert the SD card the camera shuts itself down. I can't use any kind of battery eliminator which inserts in the back of the camera because of gimbal.

How can I use the gopro without battery, without battery elmininator, with external power supply, with SD card and with video output?

Is there any way to plug the camera into the power, start the camera and then remove the battery? I don't know if this will work but it seems to be the only option you haven't tried yet. I'm assuming that the camera has to be plugged into the gimbal to access the power connector. Also, are you going to need to adjust the balance on the stabilizer? You are removing a significant amount of weight from the camera.
