My GoPro Hero 3+ Silver has been working faultlessly for 5//6+ years now. I had forgotten the wifi password and so contacted GoPro chat support to help me reset it, I followed the process told to me and was told to upgrade the firmware and reset password at the same time.
Having done this, and updated the camera, my wifi password is now reset, however the camera is completely ruined. Doesn't function, turns on and all I can do is cycle through the mode menu, can't access any functions, setings tab doesn't appear, camera turns on automatically when an sd card is inserted, a host of weird problems all thanks to this firmware update that I was told to do. Having told the chat support what had happened, the only possible solution they provided was to take it somewhere and pay to have it fixed outside of GoPro's responsibility as it's outside of warranty.
Am I missing something here? My GoPro has worked fine for years, I follow the instructions from GoPro support which subsequently breaks the camera and I have to pay for the pleasure? This is acceptable to GoPro or what? Can someone enlighten me?

Hello @royalpeak5651. sometimes it could take more than one manual update to get issue resolved. If you can, try manually updating the firmware again following the instructions you were provided by Support. Then, re-pair the camera with your phone through steps here https://gopro.com/help/articles/solutions_troubleshooting/GoPro-App-Camera-Connection-Troubleshootin... . We hope this helps.
