I have a well-cared for GoPro HERO5 Session that is completely dead and I do not know what to do. I have updated the firmware multiple times, purhcased a brand new high-end MicroSD card, and tried all the tips and tricks the internet can offer. GoPro has pretty much told me I am out of luck becuase I am passed the warranty period.
Lately, it is not even turning on. Before that, it would record for a few seconds but then freeze up and ultimately shut down.
The device has only ever been used on my road bike. It has never been crashed, has never been dropped from large distances, and has never been underwater for more than just a few minutes.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Do you think the battery has reached its end? do you think the firmware gave. I would love for GoPro to say Send in, let us do a full flash if it fails would you like to trade up, or us to return your product at your cost, and here is a small vid showing that it was done. thiswill never happen but would win all of us over, as a customer then to say sorry nothing more we can do (wink)

Thanks for your reply. The device really was not used all that much. I've had it since early 2017, but have only used it maybe 20-25 times and in each instance for less than an hour or so of active recording time. I can't imagine the battery is shot. If it is, then it has to be a faulty battery.
When you say firmware gave, do you mean did it install correctly/fully? If so, I followed the steps on GoPro's website so I have every reason to believe it was installed correctly. I managed to install previous editions of the firmware without issue throughout my years of owning this device.

the firmware can give without notice, even hardware. and that can be day one or thousands of uses. I agree used very little, something is not right and GoPro should at least like said take the camera and give a evaulation at a gopro shop then to decline it. I am truely sorry the camera gave.
Reflash did not work but did you at least know or try to press 35 secodns neverknow what worked for me but got sick and tired of doing that ...

Yep I tried all of the reflash/restart methods and even called GoPro support to have them walk through it with me. At the end of the conversation, they pretty much said: "we've gone through all of the troubleshooting methods and it sounds like unfortunately this device is faulty. Since it is passed the warranty period, we cannot replace the device. Sorry!"
Not thrilled with the customer service on a device I spent nearly $300 on!! Not all of us can just pull out a wad of cash an upgrade to a new device. I was planning on using this device for years to come. I mean, it is marketed as a rugged, tough, totally capable little camera and unfortunately, GoPro didn't come through for me on this.

Understood: again sorry to hear, gopro will not fix unless under the Plus plan or in warranty. well it can be traded up for $100.00 stil lnot a bad investment or 50.00 maybe some one in here will offer you a few dollars less so they can get tehir camer and you come out a winner at the end.
