GoPro Fusion Test Footage?

Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade from my old GoPro Hero 6 Black to the GoPro Hero Fusion or the new Hero Max, currently I only have one concern, and thats editing 360 footage as it's somthing I'm unfamiliar with and I'm not entireley sure how well my PC will cope with 5.2k 360 footage.

As for the question, is there anywhere I can get test files from the GoPro Fusion to try editing with?

Any help would be much appriciated,

Thanks, Jack

Betreff: GoPro Fusion Test Footage?

Re: GoPro Fusion Test Footage?

[ Edited ]

While I haven't seen it yet, I believe that the GoPro Max is going to have it's own desktop software. They will list the specs required, so it's best to not speculate until they do. When it comes to Fusion and editing with Fusion Studio, the minimum specs are:

Mac OS 10.10 or later OR 64 bit Windows 10 in desktop mode only. 32 bit systems are not supported.

Intel Core i5
Recommended: Intel Quad Core i7 or better

MAC GPU - Intel Iris Pro Graphics (MacBook Pro 13" or 15" mid-2015)
Recommended: Dedicated GPU like AMD Radeon R9 M370X or better
Minimum Video RAM: 4GB

Windows PC GPU - Intel Iris 620 Graphics card that supports OpenGL 4.1 or later
Recommended: Dedicated GPU like AMD Radeon R9 290 with 4GB RAM. NVIDIA GTX 760 with 4GB RAM or better
Minimum Video RAM: 4GB RAM

RAM 8 GB (minimum)

SSD storage

I personally use an i7-8900K 16GB DDR4 Ram NVIDIA RTX 2060 GPU and 1TB SSD. Fusion Studio and editing with Davinci Resolve is awesome. I used to use a computer with an i7-8600 32GB RAM NVIDIA GTX 1050 ti and a 7,200 rpm hard drive. It worked, but was much slower.

The files are very large, but if you have an online repository that I can upload to, I'd be more than happy to send you a few test files to play with (Fusion).

I believe that the main focus for editing GoPro Max footage is going to be mobile based (as seen in the promotional videos), so unless you have some professional projects, you may not need to worry about desktop editing. I have created videos from Fusion on my LG v30, and while it works, it naturally takes longer than traditional video due to the much larger file size.

As far as content and quality, Fusion produces extremely good photos and 1080p equivalent re-framed video. I expect the MAX will equal or surpass the Fusion in video, although I'm not sure about with photo as the MP is lower.

Max is going to be much more versatile than Fusion as it also has the "HERO" mode. 1080p and 1440p are more than enough for social and YouTube sharing, and also play well on large screen TVs. MAX also comes with the TimeWarp feature which is awesome on the HERO7 black, so I'm very excited to see it coming to the MAX.

As an owner of GoPro Fusion (and HERO7 Black) I am most excited about the GoPro MAX, and will definitely be purchasing it.

As far as Fusion video quality (which should be matched or better with MAX), here is a video I just did surfing the other day (Surfing isn't great and the video is long, but should give you an idea). BTW, this was edited in Davinci Resolve 16 (free Beta version) and exported as 1080p/24fps.  In general, you should follow this link so you can select 1080p playback (it doesn't always play back in high resolution on this site)
