GoPro App no longer supports HERO 3?

As per
https://gopro.com/help/articles/solutions_troubleshooting/Preview-Never-Starts-in-Capture
My HERO 3 has been working fine with Capture app for years, now all of a sudden a new app is released and preview function doesn't work?
I tried it of course as well (phone is Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact with Android 8.0) and sure enough, it pairs, and I can turn the camera on and off with it, and change settings or delete all files but I cannot view live video or view videos stored on the camera from the app any longer.
Are you guys serious? How can you remove this functionality from this product! This is ridiculous, I may as well buy a new one (and not from you thanks to this anti-consumer change) because while I don't use the camera alot, when I do i specifically use those features, so this thing is a $300 paperweight for me now.

Hello @iracecrappycars,
Sorry for the delayed response. I did a test with a HERO3 Black camera. I was able to do the same things that you were able to get to, and I was able to get a preview and was able to playback media, too! I tried different resolutions and encountered no issue. I did a manual update of the camera first only because I had to reset the Wi-Fi name and password for the camera. See if manually updating the camera would help.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks,
Marius

Hello @iracecrappycars,
The former app called Capture has been updated to GoPro App, and it still works with the HERO3 camera. Check out this article for more information: https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/How-to-Pair-the-Camera-with-the-GoPro-App
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Marius

DId that, it is paired, and I can turn the camera on and off and view settings in the app, but the Preview feature, and the viewing of stored videos feature does not work. I get a black screen. I cannot hit record or anything, and if I try to view recorded videos it says there is nothing on the camera.

Hello @iracecrappycars,
Yay! Great to know that everything is working. The link you posted was for Capture which was the older version of the current GoPro App. That is why it offered different scope of support.
Thanks,
Marius
