GoPro 7 Screen dimming - can't disable (issue for scuba diving)
[ New ]Just wondering if GoPro are going to do fix / new feature to disable the screen dimming that occurs after a minute of recording with the Gopro7.
When scuba diving with the GoPro 7 and using a super suit the screen dims dark after 1min of recording and you can't obviously touch the touch screen to make it go bright again. This is an issue in brighter environments as you can't see the screen at the dimmed brightness level.
I've quadruple checked and none of the touchscreen options can disable this with the latest firmware (01.70). I've gone back to my GoPro 5 black in the meantime.

Re: GoPro 7 Screen dimming - can't disable (issue for scuba diving)
[ New ]you can use the buttons to awake it?
Gopro wants to conserve power th camera uses battery and having hte screen at 100% brightness all the time just depletes the bat faster. some want it off some want it on I like to have it on as well never t oDim but control it by the brightnes. so the level of brightness can be raised , will gopro do that who knows. why not offer your feedback to them GoPro.com/feedback

Re: GoPro 7 Screen dimming - can't disable (issue for scuba diving)
[ New ]I think the preference for scuba diving would be fixed brightness and no dimming (or an ability to turn it off) as most divers will be focussing on the diving.
It should be a simple software change to disable the dimming.
If you lock the screen before you put it in the super suit, the touchscreen is still active but doesn't seem to cause any other issues as previously reported.

Re: GoPro 7 Screen dimming - can't disable (issue for scuba diving)
[ New ]It is important to note that the screen goes into dimmed mode after 1 min when not recording and recording video. The behaviour of the side button differs in each case.
If in recording mode and the screen has dimmed and you press the side button it actually adds a highlight but the screen goes bright again.
If you are just viewing and now recording and the screen has dimmed, pressing the side button causes it to change mode to photo or time lapse etc.
Some of the lighting setups for diving with video and / or photography are large so pressing buttons to make the screen go back to full brightness is annoying considering none of the previous models had this limitation. I'm just hoping GoPro add a feature update to disable it otherwise I might just rid of it and get a Paralenz (no screen but works and optimised for diving)

[ New ]I hear ya and understand the importance.
Yes the camera will highlight, and yes will change to another mode in standby etc. Call up GoPro and let them know, as well, hope all works out for you Love to see a forced on screen. a simple on/off is not hard if asked Lol.
