Re: GoPro 6 serious problem with stabilization

[ Edited ]

I have not stabilisation problem, but blurry and lost frames....look at 4.30 minute and the bicycle scenes.

The camera is perfect rest of the movie ,but the bicycle scenes is terrible.

I think it might be the fast movement creating the problem. I do hope
this is a firmware problem and not the cam.

This is with 1.5 v firmware.

Re: GoPro 6 serious problem with stabilization

yes i can see that your videos are smooth without frame issues. This is weird! Because almost all videos i saw from gopro 6 had same problem. You are lucky you have a working gopro 6! Kudos!!

i tried with different SD cards. Does not have to do with the sd. Tomorrow they will deliver the gimbal stabilizer i ordered so i will totally disable software stabilization and see what happens... i will keep you posted

Re: GoPro 6 serious problem with stabilization

I went on a 2 hour mountainbike ride today and the 2.7 30 FPS Linear Mode chestcam resulted in about 20 seconds usable footage. It was like kt kept trying to autofocus on the rider in front of me with him going from blurry to sharp. Moreover, it said stabilization was on, and maybe it was on, but everything was unwatchable with the ”autofocus”-issue and the terrible shaking. It wasn’t fhe usual jittery video, more like a camera on a tripod on top of something constantly vibrating. That and the microphone on the chesty made strange noises. Hope that was a one off. The firmware upgrade has a lot to deliver...

@praxitelis72816... with gimbal you will enter in another league...enjoy!

@stoutpike35111 tom, if you filmed at 2.7K, why on youtube can be seen only at 1080? when I upload 2.7K can be viewed at 1440...

handlebar mounted....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ySHQKOdP7g

look at this at 1080

and look at at 1440

at 1080 the grass texture has the same gelly feeling sometime like in your video....

at 1440 is way better.

....

just me,

robert

to have an idea on how shaky is the terrrain, please see: https://youtu.be/5Z_Ace-_bHQ hero6,mounted on handlebar 2.7K50fps superview stabilization on PT off cloudy. compare it with v02.01 stabilisation https://youtu.be/rAehB2q1SiM

Re: GoPro 6 serious problem with stabilization

... when this kind of trail image, with grass texture, with monotone repetitive trees, blossom, I think the stabilisation role is much heavier, because of lack of lines, contrasts in the image...

just me

Re: GoPro 6 serious problem with stabilization

You meant my youtubes, Robert? I wasn’t clear if you were calling on stout or me. But as far as my youtubes go, I only take the videofiles from the SD-card, and since Quik is a garbage-app that stopped working, I cut a scene in Adobe Premiere, save at whatever output doesn’t detract from the issue at hand, upload to youtube, and youtube degrades the quality for free.

Re: GoPro 6 serious problem with stabilization

Whatever we second guess about gopro’s stabilization, be it low light, sd cards, batteries, scenery, or algorithms, it’d be nice to at least once hear from gopro what to realistically expect from it. Because something that works only on a clear blue sky day at high-noon someplace perfectly smooth and without vegetation is useless.
