Go Pro hero6 black 4K playback help

[ Edited ]

Hi ,

I recently purhcaed the go pro hero 6 and starting shooting in 4k. When i try to play it back i came across some issues. The footage is really jumpy and choppy you might say. It doesn't play smooth at all. I did some research and by the looks of it my current macbookpro cannot support the files of the 4k. I am going away on a trip and want to shoot it all in 4K. I will only have my current macbookpro and will be transferring the files from the camera to an external mypassort usb2.0 harddrive to free up the sd card so i can shoot the whole trip. I won't be opening the files just transferring. Will this change the file and ruin the 4k playback when i get home and transfer the files onto a new computer that supports 4k? And will that external harddrive support the 4k transfers?

thanks guys and girls

Re: Go Pro hero6 black 4K playback help

Hello,

Using a underpowered computer won't corrupt your files. You may be unable to view them, but the actual data will be fine. Remember to reformat the SD after you empty it just to be safe. Your external hard drive will be fine.

Thanks for your reply!!! Appreciate it!

Just with the formatting why would I have to do that? Can’t I just delete the files from camera before using it again?

Formatting is a good thing to do, and it empties the card for you anyways. It’s the fast way to complete delete your card.
