Thank you for all your feedback.
We do our best to make sure that the GoPro App works on every mobile device but because of the nature of the operating system coupled with a huge number of devices running different hardware and software specs, we find the task nearly impossible to do. Such inconsistencies make it extremely difficult to ensure that the app will work seamlessly on every device.
We are working with some phone manufacturer towards a solution. There is no time frame for this fix at this time. Please watch out for updates.
In attempting to remedy the issue, please make sure that all components are updated: the camera's software, the phone's operating system, and the GoPro App installed on your device. If all the workarounds presented will still not work, you can contact our Support Team here for a more personalized support.
Many thanks and best regards!

I'm looking forward to updates here, I've been trying on-and-off for months to get my camera to work with my Pixel (1)
Everytime an update comes out I reset everything and hope that I can control my camera from my phone.

I think....I think it is working!!!
bullyacorn said "I deleted all the memory on my phone for the gopro under wifi settings and under Bluetooth settings. Uninstall app. Start fresh"
bluetree3732 said "Reset connections on camera, reset everything on phone. Go into app info, long press on app icon and force reset and clear cache, clear data.Go thru setup process again."
Did those, then went to advice of only GoPro rep mariustanya - while pleasant it was late and no real info with an ETA of never. I did click on her link though and that went...nowhere. too many https:// i think.
so i then went to https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/How-to-Pair-the-Camera-with-the-GoPro-App#HERO6Black followed the instructions and it worked.
so far. I will play around with it tomorrow and if it doesn't work i will let you know.
GoPro app is version 4.4.1(5740)
Google Pixel is version 8.1.0

Struggling to get hero 6 to connect reliably with pixel 2 running andriod P.
followed these directions: https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/How-to-Pair-the-Camera-with-the-GoPro-App#HERO6Black
I was able to connect via wifi, but couldn't get bluetooth to connect (and wifi connection sometime works and sometimes doesn't.)
chatted with technical support. he had me start over.
after a couple attempts was able to get wifi connected again, but no bluetooth.
When I go to add bluetooth devices the gopro app looks like it has found 5 devices, but none have names, and I can't connect to any.
When I go to android system menu for add bluetooth device, no gopro shows up.

@whitingpt - The bluetooth connection is not critical to connecting your GoPro to the app. The wifi connection is the primary connection and the bluetooth serves as a backup connector that can reestablish the wifi connection when the camera goes into a lower-power standby mode.
The camera can not connect to your app by bluetooth only. The secondary bluetooth connection should show up as an option within the app itself once the wifi connection is established.

Thanks for the response @jefft.
I was hoping that I could use bluetooth to wake it up. I'll have it mounted in a location that will make it much more convienient for me to control it with my phone, but I need it to last about 12 hours on a single battery charge. My plan was to keep it in low-power-mode most of the time and use my phone to wake it and start recording when I needed to capture something.

I am also trying to get the Google Pixel 2 running Android P to work with Hero6.
I can't get it to connect when WiFi is set to 5 Ghz. The phone doesn't see the wifi.
It is possible to get it connected on 2,4 Ghz but it looses connection often and then times out when trying to reconnect.
When selecting the camera in the GoPro app, you can see that it connects to the camera wifi, but the progress indicator just keeps spinning and you end up with the "We Can't Connect To Your GoPro" error dialog.
Then you click Try again and select the camera again and then it connects immediately.
So there is a bug in the connection status check while the progress indicator is showing.

Thank you for sharing your observation. We will forward this to the team. A question though, was your mobile data on your phone up when you were trying to pair the camera with the phone?
