Go Pro Hero 5

I just got a GoPro hero 5 with intentions to use it tomorrow, I charged it for about 2 hours then tried to set it up. When i went to turn it on it blinks red and beeps three times. Then the screen just goes black and won’t respond when I press any buttons. I read something else on support of people having the same issues but no answers on how to fix it. Could it have just been that I didn’t charge it long enough??

Even if the camera is not fully charged, the screens (both front and rear) should be able to display information. Are both screens not working? See if the SD card is properly seated. Sometimes, the card could get inserted incorrectly that causes damage on the screen. If this is not the case, try manually updating your HERO5 Black camera. You can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the HERO5 Black  update page.
  2. Under "Other ways to update" at the base of the page, click "Update your camera manually."
  3. Enter your Serial Number and other requested information, click Next Step.
  4. Click "Download Update."
  5. Click "Click here to download firmware."
  6. Follow the steps on the screen for detailed instructions for your operating system.

Make sure that your camera is fully charged and that the SD card is formatted prior to updating. If the screen will still not work after these steps, please get in touch with our Support team for further assistance. You can reach them here: https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs
