Go Pro 5 Water Leak
[ New ]As I was getting to know my new camera i deceided to put my stick on it and record my goldfish in my pond. I put it in water agout 6" and when i took it out the functions didn't work and the touch controls didn't function, the screen went blank. I dried it off good then opened the door where the battey is, took the card and battery out, i didn't see water in that area. i put the battery back in and it worked again and has been working OK since. i am now worried about taking it in my boat for fishing and water skiing, which is mainly what I purchased it for. I feel I have to try to get it wet again rather than waiting till I do take it in the boat and then find out it doesn't work and not have it to use. Any suggestions? What do i do if it gets water in and doesn't work?

Re: Go Pro 5 Water Leak
[ New ]Hello @agileoasis27000,
Thank you for reaching out. As long as the seals/doors are properly locked prior to usage, you should not have any worry about using the camera in water.
As the cameras are tested and rated as waterproof, any manufacture defect leading to water damage will be covered under standard warranty. In the long run, it will also help to practice proper care of the camera such as making sure that the seals/doors and lens are clean and free from any debris or dirt. After using the camera especially in saltwater, thoroughly wash it in fresh water. This is to avoid salt accumulation that can weaken the seals, or cause any gap on the doors.
Should you observe any more issues with the camera, you can always reach out to our Support team for further assistance. https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs
Thanks,
Marius
