Really struggling with this. I've been using Go Pro's since the very first camera, still have 2s, 3s and 4s that work perfeclty.
Recently i got a Hero 5 Black and 2 Session 5's. Apart from the frustrating issue of not being able to rename them, the nail in the coffin is that the Hero 5 audio is out of sync by 3 frames, and there are regular glitches when editing in Final Cut Pro 10.4.
So much so that the footage is unsuable, there is a workaround of re-encoding the foorage before editing but it really slows down the process.
So unless anyone has any bright ideas the Hero5's are going on Ebay and i'll be looking for an alternative 4k solution.

The Hero5 Black and both Hero5 Session audio are out of sync? Upload the original, unedited footage to youtube and post the video here.
What are your camera specs? I have both the Hero5 Black and Hero5 Session and neither have this issue. As an active member on this support community, I also don't recall seeing this issue posted before.
Which Hero4 camera do you have?
Also, when filming in 4K, is Protune turned on or off?

First shot is Hero 5 black, sync is out and it glitches
second shot is a 5 session
both set to 1080, wide, 25p, no pro tune.
Being that it only happens in the 5 i'd be willing to bet its a codec issue or something funny going on with the 5 specifically, editing on a mac on FCPX, fairly common setup i'd say.

If the original unedited footage doesn't do this then there is something going on with your set up. I use Adobe Premiere Pro so I don't have any experience with FCPX but plenty of people do. I'd check on their forums to see if anyone has some suggestions for you.
