Go Pro 4 Black pairing

[ New ]

I have the new software I select the go pro 4 black and I pair'

My phone shows a 4 digit number but your app will not accept a 4 digit number it will not let me select connect until there are 8 digits.
So how am I to connect my Go Pro 4 Black.
I find this real frustrating that you do not support the older cameras allmy videos and everything are all wasted because you no longer support the old cameras.
I am fixing to go on a two week ride and I buy mounts and all that to put the camera on my bike but there is no software compatable with the camera.

Awesome

Re: Go Pro 4 Black pairing

I have figured it out. It has nothing to do with the APP
The new phones have better security
The WIFI on the phone is WPA2 communication, it requires an 8 bit password.
I bet if I get one of my old phones out it will pair up without any issues.
But I am positive that this is the issue.
I go to connect the phone to the wifi without the app. I type in the four numbers that are showing on the gopro.
The connect button is grayed out.
I then just add four more numbers to make it 8 numbers and the connect button turns blue and I can click on it.

Just old technology vs new, sucks cause there is nothing wrong with the camera.

Oh well

What phone are you using?

The 4 digit pin works for 1st time connections only.  The 8 digit (minimum) is actually required for your password (meaning that the connection was already set up).

If you're using andriod, you need to delete the connection from your phone and then go into the advanced settings where it has a history of all the connection and delete the GoPro connection from there also.  You then need to reset the WiFi settings on your camera.  After that, then you should set up the connections again.

Hi @toms140

What phone are you using? Do you have the latest version of the app?

If you are not getting the 4 digit PIN prompt, a reset may help.

Please go over the steps on Reset Wi-Fi Name and Password

Once done, proceed with the pairing process.

If it's still the same, try manually connecting to the camera's Wi-Fi network from your phone’s Wi-Fi settings.

Go back to the app to complete the connection.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

dang it
WPA2 requires an 8 digit passcode, so I need to figure out if I can change this to a very unsucure connection.
But that is what the issue is. I have even tried this with my wife Apple phone.
requires 8 digit pin to connect

**bleep**ing hackers suck!!!!

Hi @toms140

What version is the app on?

Would you mind sending us a screenshot of the app where it prompts for an 8-digit code/number?

Thanks!
