Go Pro 3+ video is green/purple

I have had my camera for a while now and haven't used it in a couple of years.

Connected it to my phone, and when i move the camera are, the picture goes saturated gree, then a bit of purple.

Tried updated, different SD cards, factory reset and changing quality and fps.

any way to fix it?

Re: Go Pro 3+ video is green/purple

You've pretty much done the usual fixes. Have you taken a couple short videos and a couple pictures and then loaded them on your computer? You'll want to see if the camera is recording the same way it's coming across on your phone.

The camera makes two files, the larger HAD mp4 that you will use on your computer and a second compressed low definition lvr file which it uses for the phone display. Hopefully it's just the connection or lvr file causing the issue. It's inconvenient and not ideal, but at least the camera would be functional.
If the files you transfer to the computer are also saturated green/purple, it might be the image sensor. It's also possible it's the camera battery. I know it sounds strange but my Hero3 was acting up and nothing seemed to fix it. I bought a new battery and everything went back to normal.

My other suggestions are to try different resolutions/frame rates and Protune settings. You want to see if the issue persist in every setting.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Good luck!

Probably not the answer you want, but in case you don't know, for a limited time you can get $100 off a Hero5 Black if you trade in your camera (even if it's not working). It's a great camera and a huge upgrade from the one you have now. You will no doubt get more use from the Hero5 than you can get with the Hero3 Silver.

Regards,

Daniel
