GPS not always working

I have my Hero 5 Black for about 5 weeks and used it heavily, on a daily use basis.

Going through the photos I took I found that the GPS coordinates were not always taken.

Since I also took photos at the same time with my iPhone I can confirm that GPS reception was available in these situations and I have several examples where I am under a cloud free sky and have GoPro Hero 5 NOT recording the GPS coordinates.

That is a flaw, no doubt, however, I used the current version of 1.5 and updated today to 1.55 and may be they have fixed it. I couldn't find a detailed release report saying what the new firmware release included -- that would be something I wish for in the future.

Please offer a list of fixed issues.

Anybody else who thinks that GPS is not recorded always?

Sorry to hear you are having some issues with the GPS on your camera. Make sure that you have GPS before starting to record. If you record without having GPS to begin with the camera will not find GPS while recording.

 

If you are still having issues I would recommend re-manually updating your camera. You can do so by following this link! https://gopro.com/update/hero5. Also make sure you are using a recommend SD Card from this list: https://gopro.com/help/articles/Block/microSD-Card-Considerations.

Sorry if this thread is considered too old to be brought back to life, but I seem to have the same issue with GPS sporadically not working. I'm using the latest firmware version 2.0
