GPS Telemetry and Joining Big Files

One of the reasons I got the Hero 5 was because of it's telemetry features which I figured would save me having to muck around with GPX Files in Dashware or the Garmin Virbedit and have some baked in GoPro goodness with saved GPS Track and Speedo etc.
But...
When the file size requires the video to create a new file to write to - and so a bike ride may have many seperate video files of <4GB each, each of those files has a single-self contained GPS Track, accumulated distance and elevation with no reference to the previously recorded telemetry. Each new clip, although maybe hours into the recorded footage, show 0 KMs covered at the start.
Surely there must be a way to link these so that there's a single telemetry track for the entire set of files? In Quik or GoPro Studio, or something? And if not, do the guys at GoPro really think that this is OK?
Does anybody have a solution or do I need to trade in a get a Garmin Virb?

I think the latest version of Dashware reads these data and might be able to join files and work with the data in better ways thant Quick, but I haven't tried it.
You might want to have a look at the data visualisation group, although most solutions discussed there are pretty DIY: https://community.gopro.com/t5/Hero5-Metadata-Visualisation/gp-p/Hero5MetadataVisualisation

Hi again, yes it looks like dashware does have the ability to merge not only video but the telemetry data also into a "whole" version of the entire experience.
I just think this should be an option baked into the native GoPro software. Maybe they will. And they need to sort out the synchronisation problems too.
Cheers,
Greg
