I spent 30 minutes convincing the guy on chat that it's not a playback issue.

It is not a playback issue. I did not recover any content. This still image is exactly what is recorded, and seems nothing can be done with that.
Unfortunately GoPro refuses to acknowledge the problem so far.
Their approach is "Our firmware is flawless" and "You must be doing something wrong" or "Use recommended SD card" or
"We will replace Your camera" which does not solve the problem.

Are you running the old firmware? How do you trust it seeing it's failed you already. Do you do a lengthy practice run after updates?

I am running old firmware, and simply not updating to latest.
How do I trust? I do not!
I am just trying to reproduce freeze video issue after update. And with older I can not, so I use old firmware that at lest record video correctly (so far).
