I did face the same problem.. what i did was Control Panel > Device Manager > Portable Device > Right Click the Hero5 Black > Properties > Driver > Disable and Enable the Selected Device.

Any idea how to fix this problem on a Mac ?
At first I managed to solve the problem by disconnecting and reconnecting the GoPro multiple times. But now this doesn't work anymore.
I have the problem with Quick and also with Image Capture. Might be related with the amount of data on the SD card as I didn't have the problem when it was empty (?).
